Penalty rates are an important source of income for those who are low paid.  Penalty rates also put a check on work intruding on time with family and friends.   

The Liberal National Government is running a review of our workplace relations laws that has recommended a savage cut in penalty rates pay to be lowered by 25%. The federal government has refused to rule out this penalty rates pay cut which will mostly affect low paid working people.
